To reflect or react, what is the difference?

Image
Reflect friendly to others but give it a fair chance to express your uncompromised idea. Learn emotional intelligence through mutual feedbacks in your community. The culture of corporates is changing with a high elan toward a more human-centric community. Transparency, openness, acceptance and other ever-newer terms are introduced to stimulate a more friendly working community. For good reason. This change is inevitable though leaders shall support the process with their full positive power. One aspect of the changing team behavior is person-to-person communication, how employees react in a wide variety of situations to the other. Emotional intelligence This seems to be a relatively new topic in people’s behavior topics. While it is a very simple thing and it was ever-present in our community. In everyday business life, we can meet the situation where it’s easy to get in fever. If an employee loses its patience and reacts to suddenly that might have bad consequences. Therefore ...

What have I learned from my 12 years old son during the holidays?

Image
I have just arrived home from a long trip and dropped in the room of my son for a chat before he fell asleep. He told me stories about what happened with him in the school. He performed really well and I become curious about his method of learning. I knew that he does not spend much time with learning at home. He has so many other interesting things to do. He revealed that he prepares himself in the school right before the class then he listens carefully to the teacher. To the end of the lecture he is in the state that the lesson is memorized. So, at home remain only few things to recap. I thought that this principle can be leveraged well at work, too. I immediately remembered the lengthy meetings when we spent a lot of time to recall the known facts which were communicated in advance. During my many years in the business I faced such situations when most of the participants did not prepare for the meeting. It is not only a disrespect to others but root cause of huge loss of time...

Just name some of the big systems, methodologies or toolboxes: Balanced Scorecard, Organization Change Management, Innovation Management, Continuous Improvement, IT Service Management, Project Management standards. The variety of tools that are used to shape business are dependent on the conviction of actual leaders, the advisors who have wide range but different scope of expertise and seasoned by the given conditions of the company. The standard sys...

Do we measure productivity?

Image
New processes, new applied methods need economical justification. Typical example is when software are introduced to the work group so that it makes their life easier, they can work more productive. Usually, the mandate is already in place when the users see the new software or hear a non alterable fact about rolled-out new business functions. The nice and optimum way to see the new business application around should be naturally supported by productivity measurement as far as the improvement of productivity is goal of the company. Some of direct or indirect influence factors of better business performance shall be taking into consideration anyway. Direct influence on productivity The hard factors, tangible effects are the classics like time, saving resources and to higher the quality. Measuring shall not be difficult but always comes something in between that interferes our plan for transparency and measurement. Loosing the focus at the end : we are most of the time in hurry, ther...

ERP does not matter

Image
It took ages to develop the first ERPs and roll out to successfully support core business operation. ERP is an acronym for management of business resources, maybe all ones that important. In fact while implementing the knowledge about business, processes shall be mapped, filed, overviewed and so on, many times. It seems that consulting helps to understand ourself and resign that it cost a fortune to finally arrive to a phase of deployment. For the time of taking the whole pack into use it becomes practically aged. It was not alway so, while oldschool companies were not changing that disruptive way, nor they neither the business world around. Nevertheless ERP controlling the core business took lots of energy to deploy and operate. Finally when the company surrendered was heading to multiple decades of a practically strictly fenced single vendor cooperation that was only good for the vendor and their delivery partners. Let us have a look to the other side of the coin. The consumeriza...
